Moving Day Checklist

With selling season arriving in the Spring, let's chat through how to make Moving Day not the worst day of your life.

As a real estate agent in Costa Mesa, here are a few key things that buyers should keep in mind when preparing for the big day!

  1. Make a list of all the items that need to be packed and moved. (Time consuming but worth it)

  2. Hire a reputable moving company. I know movers can sometimes cost a pretty penny but it's worth it to hire someone you can trust to move your fragile belongings.

  3. Label Electronics. Take a look behind your TV. What do you see? Chances are it's a mass of wires and plugs. Make your life easier and throw a label on those bad boys.

  4. Pack a moving day essentials box. This box should include all the essentials that you will need on moving day, such as toiletries, a change of clothes, pizza, advil... lol or maybe have your realtor provide lunch.

  5. Consider off site storage for a month. If moving and decorating overwhelms you why not consider moving some furniture etc.. into storage to make redecorating / re-carpeting etc.. easier?

  6. Make A Checklist Of Numbers To Call To Get Utilities Switched Into Your Name. It's crazy how many utilities and subscriptions we have now. Ask your local realtor for a list, I have one for each neighborhood in Costa Mesa to send over for my clients.

  7. Take pictures of your current home. Why is this something that we often forget? You'll want to hang on to these for the future.

  8. Double check with the previous owner or your real estate agent that all repairs and cleaning have been completed.
